Iowa Veterinary Wellness Center utilizes state-of-the-art in-house laboratory equipment, made by Abaxis. We are able to perform tests such as complete blood counts (CBC), chemistry profiles (checking internal organ function) and thyroid function monitoring. These tests take just minutes, helping us to get information quickly if and when we need it.
We also do “routine” tests such as heartworm tests, FeLV and FIV (feline leukemia virus and feline immunodeficiency virus) tests, vaccine titer testing, and fecal examinations (to look for intestinal parasites).
Our veterinary staff is highly trained and qualified to do other in-house testing such as cytologies (from ear swabs, fecal swabs, fine needle aspirates, etc.) as well as urinalyses.
And if we can’t do the test in house, or if we need veterinary specialist input? We routinely use IDEXX reference laboratories for our special test requests. We commonly also use other outside reference laboratories such as Iowa State University, Michigan State University and Texas A&M University veterinary labs in order to facilitate an accurate disease screening tool and/or diagnosis for your pet.
Our expertise, along with our partnerships with our various reference laboratories will help ensure that we get speedy, accurate information for you and your pet.
